What certified by Puro.earth means
Puro.earth certification guarantees that the carbon dioxide has been physically removed and durably stored, and that the removal is counted only once.
Puro.earth is a leading crediting platform for engineered carbon removal. Globally, they certify most of the issued and retired CO2 removal credits. They are backed up by Nasdaq, their main shareholder.
Puro.earth defines robust, science-based methodologies for durable carbon removal, such as biochar, and requires independent third-party verification before any carbon removal is certified.
Only carbon dioxide that has been physically removed from the atmosphere and durably stored for at least 100 years is eligible for Puro.earth certification, and for Remove Carbon Today store.
What a CO₂ Removal Certificate (CORC) represents
For every metric ton of CO₂ physically removed and durably stored, Puro.earth issues an official and public CO₂ Removal Certificate (CORC).
Each CORC confirms that the carbon removal is:
- Ex-post - the removal has already taken place
- Measured and verified - audited under science-based standards
- Durable - stored for at least 100 years
- Registered - managed in a public registry
- Unique - tied to a single, completed removal
A CORC represents one metric ton of CO₂ physically removed and durably stored.
What public registry and retirement enable
Puro.earth operates a public registry, which is the core mechanism that makes certified carbon removal transparent, traceable, and verifiable by anyone.
In the registry, all CO₂ Removal Certificates are:
- issued
- tracked
- and retired
Issuance means that the carbon removal and storage according to Puro.earth methodologies has been verified by third-party auditors.
Retirement means the certificate has been permanently closed in the public registry, so the same carbon removal cannot be sold, transferred, or counted twice.
What this means for individuals
We at Remove Carbon Today offer exclusively Puro.earth-certified, high-quality carbon removal that you can trust and that makes your climate impact quick and real.
We purchase CO₂ Removal Certificates from Puro.earth-certified carbon removal suppliers.
Every time we have sold a full ton of carbon removal at our store, we retire one CORC at Puro.earth public registry on behalf of our customers.
When your purchase is part of the ton, you will receive a link in a email to the retirement record at the Puro.earth public registry, showing your order number and confirming that your carbon removal has been retired and completed.
This retirement and confirmation is done within one month of purchase.
You do not need to rely on claims - you can independently track the removals yourself at Puro.earth public registry and through our retirement tracker.
What your proof looks like
Each retirement registry record shows:
- the amount of retired CORCs
- the carbon removal method and project
- the beneficiary and purpose of removal
- the Remove Carbon Today batch ID
- the order numbers retired
- the retirement status and date
This confirms that the CO₂ has been removed from the atmosphere and claimed only once.

Why durable carbon removal is required
Global temperatures are record high due to excess CO2 in the atmosphere that our nature cannot absorb. Global warming causes weather extremes and disruptions.
Reducing future emission cannot solve this alone. Certified carbon removal is required, as it physically locks away already-emitted CO₂ for centuries and lowers its concentration in the atmosphere, helping limit global warming and reduce climate risks.
This is why Remove Carbon Today exists - we make certified, durable carbon removal available for individuals like you, so you can remove your unavoidable CO₂ emissions immediately and permanently, and with proof. 🍀
In short
Individuals using Remove Carbon Today can trust and independently verify that their purchased carbon removal is completed as certified, durable carbon removal and retired in a public registry.
